I see the option to display the 10 most recent posts, but with far more posts than that coming in between each of my visits, I wonder if there is a way to conveniently display all new posts since my last visit.

Maybe I'm just blind and am missing something obvious.  Perhaps someone can enlighten me if so?

Thought the same thing myself last night, fellas.

I'll look thru the settings and see if there is a way to enable that...

Didn't see anything in the Settings to change that... hmmm...

SMF has a ton of Mods that can be applied to it, I'll try those, and, if there's no joy there, I'll look into hackingthe php to make the number larger. Will give an update later...

Edit: OK, got my fingers into the script... If you click the link, although it says "10 most recent", it will now display the *30* most recent posts...

Next up, change that number on the Index page to reflect the real number that'll show... Smiley

Is 30 enough, do you think? I can set it to any number.

Glissando,

I was raised in Maine and did a lot of boating there.  Where do you sail that lovely boat?

She's been home-ported in Casco Bay for the past 5 seasons, and will be moving to a new anchorage somewhere in Penobscot Bay starting this coming season.

I had two boats in South Freeport, Brewer's, Harreseeket.  I probably can't help you out with neat little anchorages in Casco Bay as you have discovered them.  Remember Jewel Island?  I was fogged in there for a couple of days.

I've sailed in Casco Bay for nearly 30 years.  Jewell used to be a nice spot, but has been overtaken by the more rowdy cocktail crowd (in Sea Rays), and really isn't fun to go to anymore.   The lookout towers are derelict and I wonder if you can even climb up anymore.  I haven't been there in 10 years.  Too bad.

Any way to put the new entries at the top of the page instead of the bottom?  Reverse the flow??   Undecided   Just a thought.

Connie - not that I am aware of, but...

If, in the Index view (where all the threads are displayed), you click on the small blue "New!" button, it will take you to the last post you read in that thread, starting you off on the newest content since you last viewed. Maybe that will help? Smiley

Bingo!!  I discovered this by chance.  If you want to view most current entries on top under each individual topic, you can change profile to do this.

Go to Profile,  Click on Look and Layout Preference; Check the box for Show most recent on top;  then click change profile and you have it!!

Thanks for figuring this out, I haven't had the time to learn all that this forum software can do just yet. Smiley

I have found the "View the last 10 posts" link, but is there a link to view unread posts?

No, this version of the software has not got that option.  CapnK modified the 'view last 10 posts' link to show many more then that.  I generally use it and then read back to the last post I remember and then read from there.

I am sure you have noticed that any forums that have threads that have been updated since your last visit also are  highlighted.  You can use that also, if you have not been here for a while.
