When I first heard about all you guys out there on the East Coast , up & down the ICW or is it IWC,...hmmm whatever...heading to the islands, and stopping into all those places along the way, partying, sightseeing, sailing naked in the Bahamas. I thought, wow How cool! Cool
We have BETTER weather but not all those way cool places to hang out and explore along the way south, without going bluewater.

HOWEVER after hearing HOW MANY of you guys are out there doing that.
I have come to the conclusion, you guy have WAY TOO many boats there, it is too crowded, dodging boats, running aground, paying to get in & out of the islands.

SOOOO, how about it left coasters, speak up , lets hear from you about the great cruising grounds we have here  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

hmmmmm, ok , wait a minute, then everyone will want to come to the west coast...MORE...ok I get it  Embarrassed Embarrassed

never mind!!   Lips Sealed

slow day at the office Wink

Better weather??? I think my weather here in the Keys is just great Smiley

As far as being crowded, it depends on what you like to do... during the week, Miami to Ft. Lauderdale on the ICW is pretty quiet... and down here near Key West, it's always quiet... AND, if I leave the dock at first light, I can be in Cuba or the Bahamas before dark...

Besides, the Pacific still scares me! From here, I get to South America or wherever just stringing together daysails... maybe 1-2 overnighters...

AHHH... besides, we see the sun first Smiley

I'll still have to come out your way though... one of these days

if ya cant take crowded situations then spend some time beyond the horizon.just try it once.get in your what-ever-have-you-boat....do not stop for 24 hrs ....be it under sail or motor.go straight off shore......continue thru the nite until you see the glow on the eastern horizon....you will see the desolation first hand of the "silence and nothingness of...."its only 5 miles to the bottom".this is really not out of even a beginners rainge...infact its a good way  to extend your limits without over doing it.I did this on my first boat....a 23 foot jolly roger....from channel islands california..just prepair yourself for it.there is absoulutely nothing out there....no stopsigns no nuthin...except the occaisional frieghter.either that....or I hoid summweahz dat deh sellin lunafront land onda moon.
