In a day or two I hope to head over to the space coast and put my boat in the
water for two days. This is a bit of a shake down cruise before heading down to
the the Keys in May.

Can anybody tell me where I can put in and leave my tow vehicle/trailer for the
two days?

Also, any recommendations on overnight anchorages in the area would be most
appreciated.

Tedster,

  Welcome aboard,

When Rose and I went through we anchored off of Titusville Municipal marina and dingied into the Titusville Municipal marina.  IIRC the showers were not too expensive, and they had a nice ramp.  The folks were friendly and the anchorage near the marina was excellent, so you could avoid a slip fee for all but the first night (if you wanted a night to step the mast and get settled).

Check the launch schedule, we watched an Atlas launch from the anchorage while we were there, it was amazing!  Was a really great area!

If you have access to gov. facilities, the Patrick AFB marina up the Banana River would be the only better option near by I would recommend (not that I am an expert).

  Fair winds,

I just realized I never reported back where I went on this little jaunt.

Banana River Marina let me put my boat in, park the van and trailer, and then (for $5) they lift the drawbridge for you.  At night you can tie up to a dock just outside the marina and drawbridge.  It's primitive, but a great spot if you needed some protection.  They also have a boat shop with parts and service right there.

Very friendly place and I would certainly recommend it.

Glad you enjoyed it!  Did you range far from the Banana river?  Did you take any pictures?

  Thanks for the update.
