Well this will have been two years now since I bought Mimi Rose.  This winter hopefully I'll be getting ahead on maintenance and making the boat into a better "office," as I plan to live aboard and telecommute from the boat next year while traveling south down the ICW.  Task list for the boat looks like: replace standing rigging, new mainsail, new paint for the half of the exterior surfaces I didn't paint last year, some interior touch up, install deck fitting for holding tank pump out, replace/lengthen primary anchor rode, regalvanize anchors, strip 20 years of bottom paint, repitch prop, replace cutless bearing, change out head gaskets, replace anchor light with LED system, replace most used interior lights with LEDs, troubleshoot glow plugs, replace mag valve on kerosene heater, replace some odd bits of running rigging, and some other stuff I'm probably not remembering right now.  Making it a better office includes running a wifi system up the mast, installing an inverter, wiring up solar, etc.  Should keep me busy while I dream/hope for a early launch date....

I've been waiting for CharlieJ to get back to Texas so I can pick his brain on a couple of projects I want to do on our boat. This way he wont get board with all that fishing. Grin

Then in April we will head to Fla in a real slow cruising form.

But. I have a bunch of miles left to go Smiley

Hoping to start across for the panhandle next week, weather permitting.

First I need to find a boat! Then get her into some sort of cruising shape and make it over to the Bahamas for at least a couple months of island life. I`m trying to get into te "Go Small Go Now" frame of mind.

No rush Charlie. I don't have anything pressing. Just want to install the MSD porta pottie for pumpout.

Just keep having fun and be safe coming back.

In lieu of watching our country disintegrate on the news channel, I think I'll go down to Texas and put bait on Charlies hook Roll Eyes.

Fair winds,

What's your planned route and time tab le?  I'll be in Tarpon Springs this weekend, then I'll wait for a window to get to Appalachacola. Hope to be there by next weekend.

Leaving here (Bradenton Beach) in the morning. Been here a week cause I went back to Punta Gorda and sailed in the Suncat Nationals last weekend. Had a blast!!! Took fourth!!

I don't think we will be to mobile for at least two weeks, we are hanging out on lake guntersville till saturday (I have family here) and then heading on down the tennessee to the tenn-tom.

Probly two weeks once we head out...so unfortunately I think we will miss you this time.

congrats on taking 4th!!!

Keep posting your location, as will I. Maybe we'll meet in the Florida Panhandle.

JWalker-

When you get down to the coast- Roberts Bayou aT Josephine Ala ( Pirates
cove) is a really secure anchorage. Also can get a fairly decent burger at the Cove. Bushwackers too!

Then just before P'cola inlet is the Ft McRae anchorage. Also nice but busy on weekends.

I'll post more later.

Ooooo......thanks for the info!!!

We plan to stick to the icw till we are around the pan handle, then we may decide to make some short hops.

our general overall plan for the winter....go south on the river, go south on the florida gulf coast, end up in keys.

I'll keep you updated on our position and plans.

It's been a few years since I spent time in the Keys. I think things have tightened up a bit, but it's still a great small boat cruising ground. The Lora Li bar is my favorite!! No better place at sunset. Have fun!!!

Not sure what will be between now and then, but going to try the 'charter' thing in the BVI's in May....

Since I will need accommodation for 5 it will not be sailfar, but ought to be an adventure anyway.

Faith is due for another haul out, she needs to get the transom beefed up for the new Pacific Lite Wind vane.... might be headed out in the Spring.
