Saw my first shark while out sailing yesterday  Grin  Towards the end of the day as I was getting ready to come in.  I was up on the cabin dropping my mainsail.  Looked out over the stern and a bonnethead shark lazily cruised past.  Not quite as long as my transom, maybe 4' or so.  My son and I have caught babies fishing from the pier, but this was the first time I saw one swimming out in the ocean.

Venice Bch is renowned for sharks teeth. We found quite a few in the few days we were anchored there. Nice town, enjoyed it greatly.

We were there during the art  festival last year or year before- they run together Wink Wink.

Yes the beaches around Venice are full of fossilize shark teeth... and lots of other cool thing; turtle shell, stingray barbs and teeth, crocodile teeth and scoot plates, whale and manatee bones.  In the year and a half we've been here the kids and I have manages to collect buckets of fossils  Grin  Still have not found any big megalodon teeth but i'll keep looking Wink

Iv'e seen lots of dolphin and manatees sailing and a few sea turtles and now my first shark.  Pretty cool from a wildlife perspective.

Warm weather, beach, and lots of sailing.  We really enjoy living in FL.
