new port

Hi. don't know where to ask so...
When gone sailing and come to new ports, new countrys. what will it cost to -don't know the right english word!- declaration when arriving, for the paper works in and out of different countries harbours??? Have to budget this!
different cost in differnt countries, I guess?!
What paper is an absolut "must have"
would appriciate info on this subject

A bunch of kids from Sweden who recently sailed around the world in an Albin Vega on a tight budget and with little previous experience read a lot from  that site and after coming home claimed that a lot of it was not accurate.

If you google "customs yacht check-in [port/country name]" you may find info posted by other cruisers.  Guides that you buy *may* have good info, too.  Customs websites *may* have current info.  Otherwise, info gets out of date quickly in some ports and the only way to be sure is to call ahead to various ports and talk to customs officials.  This is one area that is not sailfar friendly.  Sadly, some ports charge the same fee to a megayacht as a CD25...
