 Grin Grin

I was 63, 2 years ago Grin

Remember- Chicester was over 60 when he raced the first OSTAR, singlehand.

Phil Weld was over 60 when he WON the OSTAR, single hand sailing Moxie, a 50 foot Trimaran.

Why you think I've got a 43 year old wife? Had to get one that young just so she could keep UP with me  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I have missed you all! I agree with EdD.  This site is very active with enthusiastic, interesting and caring folks.  You really do get a feel for personalities.  I had the nice opportunity to meet Dan/Psyche last week and what a beautiful boat his Columbia is.  The projects are coming along great and it is going to be a beauty when completed.  James and Mei Baldwin are helping him with the projects.  They were not there, but I got to see their boat.  (www.atomvoyages.com/)  Dan's boat is also on their site.  Very nice person and beautiful location.  I just missed meeting John/Capt Smollett and his family by 1 hr on Friday.  I was so disappointed.  Close as well to meeting CJ, Laura, Craig and Rose.   Gotta make that happen soon.   Wink
And John, yes, Capt K is a good host.  Beautiful area he is in too.
EdD, I agree that Capt. K's rendition of our trip is hilarious.  He is a fun person and a very creative writer!   Roll Eyes  Of course, some of it was true, just slightly embellished....ok a lot embellished.  Cheesy
63?? young, Young, YOUNG!!!!!
Charlie, if you had to marry young to get someone to keep up with you, I may need to start looking at 30 yr olds.   Shocked Shocked Shocked  Then I could train him to be my cabana/boat boy.  I then could "really" lie in the hammock all day and order my drinks to be delivered to the bow.   Cheesy Grin Wink  I will have to give that some serious thought.   Roll Eyes

Here's wishing a happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans, and while I'm at it, a plain old 'general' happy 4th of July to all of you who don't celebrate this particular day in the way we do. Smiley

Spent the AM wrapping the blades on my dinghy oars with 'glass. Then, I "just happened" to fall off the dock for a bit, where I had a malted beverage at sea level (quite literally). Wink The river is at a great temperature right now.

Hope all of y'all have a great day!:)

I was thinking similarly.
My wish for all the sailfarers: may all your holiday fireworks not involve the use of emergency flares; may all your winds be fair and not smell of speedboats; and may the warm glow at sunsets not have anything to do with dock or engine fires.

A safe and happy 4th to all from aboard Tehani.

We are currently anchored about 40 or so miles away from Washington, DC, just off the Potomac R. Plan to arrive DC in a couple of days, and stay awhile, playing tourist. We find we can anchor downtown and pay for showers, etc at one of the marinas. Short walk from the Mall, monuments, and Smithsonian.

Gonna be fun!!

A Happy 4th to all; as has been said, Thank a Veteran! And, to paraphrase, may your holiday be stress-free and safe. Smiley Fair winds!

S'posed to blow in the high teens here tomorrow afternoon  - think I'll rig up the windsurfer for some 'singlehanded planing hull' sailing Wink in the PM.

CJ - hope you and L have a good 4th there at the Capitol. Set those buggers straight while yer there, wouldja? Grin

I hope that all had a happy 4th of July.

My niece and her husband brought their daughter (who turned two a couple months ago) down to Martha's Vineyard over the holiday, and she sent me an email last night that I found amusing and will share...she wrote...

"Thought of you seeing all the nice sailboats. We all took a bike ferry across Menemsha Harbor to ride around the other side of the island, and [her husband]'s brother also took us out on his Grady White (p&@$r) boat. Evelyn liked it until she discovered down below, and said, "oh, look mama, a house! A house in the boat!" She just wanted to play there after that."

Seems like there may be some lesson here about the virtue of looking at the world with simple wonder, and having small wants... Cheesy
