Here is a good video (VHS) on basic coastal navigation.  I received it as a present and was very pleased with the information and the very clear manner it is presented.  As a US Power Squadron member I studied this material in the Piloting and Advanced Piloting courses.  Power Squadron courses are very thorough but I find them sometimes overly complex in both methodology and presentation.

The tape (100 minutes) covers charts, coarse plotting, dead reckoning, variation, deviation, bearings, fixes, tides & currents, and aids to navigation.    It is, IMHO, an excellent tape for beginning and intermediate coastal navigators.  Even if you are an experienced navigator, the sailing footage alone is probably worth the price of the tape.

My daughter found the tape at:

"The Basics"...Navigation"
Produced by SOMA film & video, narrated by Rob MacLeod.

Hope you enjoy it.
