On my 50 th birthday in in 2008 we are splashing our totally refit 1976 Morgan OI 28 "Mary Christmas". We currently have the boat on the hard in our dirveway in Hudson Fl doing the refit. We are completely stripping and refitting. This is my 6th boat, (sunfish, 74 hunter 25, 89 macgreggor 26D, 70 albin 25, 90 sea ray 250DA sundancer,) and by far the most ambitious project! We plan on cruising both florida coasts, the keys, and the bahammas. No blue water (other than very short crossings).

Any suggestions / comments on refitting a 70's era pocket cruiser would be appreciated.

Hi there Mike & Mary!

Welcome aboard!

Ihave a suggestion for you - well, 2 really:

1- Keep visiting here, and join in the conversation. Smiley

and

2 - Plastic Classic Forum <- Poke that, and get ready to be awed by some of the work you see, and to have an awesome resource for your project questions from people who have been there and have a closet full of the t-shirts. Smiley

I intend to get into my plans for what I am doing with "Katie Marie" and her fitting out, eventually. She's going to be quite the different boat when I'm done.

You are going to have a good 50th birthday party. Smiley

I hear these boats have tons of interior space.

It's not about the sails the boat or the rigging it's about  freedom
