It's conditions like those you mention that give me a warm safe fuzzy feeling about what a good job DHS is doing at protecting us... <barf>

What  I found interesting about these cards is, they will let you in certain military installations, but not through airport security.  ???

Zen-

Sad but true... you'd think that if it is good enough to get you in a DHS secured transit facility, that it would work in a DHS guarded airport...

ROFL- then they'd have to find me, and from from what I've seen from  them on several occasions, they can't find their butts with both hands.

Again, sad to say- they SHOULD be doing better.

The requirement for a TWIC still remains for initial issue of license, but has been suspended for renewal.

The NMC apparently stopped doing part of the screening process when new applicants submitted their initial request, so everyone still has to get a TWIC the first time, but for those of us doing a renewal we need not pay the money for a new one.

Here is a link to the policy letter from the NMC (USCG).

And an example of the letter you submit.
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

I got my OUPV ticket last year, and acquiring the TWIC was part of the checklist. I took care of it first. Didn't really have a problem getting it, but it took time, money, patience, etc. Not ever having experienced the process pre-TWIC, I can't really compare, but I must say, red tape starts to get heavy when its piled on...

At NMC. Rec right now, they just accepted my form saying I had not renewed my TWIC.
