When are you planning on making Key West?  I should be there sometime around November.

Fair winds.

Keep us updated.   This is a trip I want to also do.   The western edge of Lake Erie is about 90 miles north of me.  This would be a great way to spend a year.

Discussion of Florida's "Sojourners permit" requirement for transient boats  split off here.
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

No problem, I am in Medina NY now. As soon as I get a better internet connection I will post logs and Pics.

BTW, what were the requirements on height for your boat.  What is the lowest bridge? Could you sail any of the way in the canal, or is it all motoring?  Sounds like a fun trip to do.
When I'm sailing I'm free and the earth does not bind me...

Lynx

Lowest Bridge is 15 1/2 feet. Over 200 bridges. One 35 mile lake that the wind can really builds up short choppy waves in.

The Canal is down between a lot and very little wind comes down that far. Nice and flat. Motor trip all the way and more than likely the Hudson river as well.

Tieing off my boat was easy as the beam and the stern was about the same. Real straight. I just tied onto the wench and warped around a wire, pile or wrope. Most of the time the boat just went down without any attention. Gloves are recommended and dock pole required.

Rental canal boats. Most of these are at a marina and those marinas should have secure parking for a week or 2
