My father made an offer on a sailboat in Punta Gorda, Fl and it was accepted. He works full time in Texas and since I have some free time, I offered to fly out and act as his agent for the inspection, survey, sea trial, and to prepare the boat for the crossing back to Texas.

There is another boat in Ft. Lauderdale that I am interested in looking at for myself, so I have booked a flight and will arrive in Ft. Lauderdale Friday night (8/5).
My plan is to spend the weekend there, looking at two boats for sale, then make my way over to Punta Gorda and begin making arrangements for my father.

I will need to personally inspect the boat, hire a surveyor, possibly a marine engine surveyor, set up a survey/haul out date, prepare the boat for delivery, and find storage for it until it can be delivered.

For you, SailFar'ers:
-Can anyone recommend a decent surveyor in either the Ft. Lauderdale or Cape Coral/Ft. Myers area?

-If you are in the area, would you like to get together for coffee/a drink?

-And if that goes well....wanna take me home for the night? ;)

It goes without saying that if you're at loose ends and feel like tagging along, doing boat-related stuff, I would welcome the company.
