Last evening I watched a program on PBS - Nature...and thought about your discussion, Kurt, on having to make the difficult choice to amputate your previous dog's leg [due to cancer]. Quite an inspiring show.

You can watch it here...

Beyond the theme of helping pets and animals [and many of the ideas and devices have been adapted to help humans with similar challenges], I appreciated the process of creativity and design that these [technicians/engineers] /craftspersons employed. Perhaps not that different from what a sailor may have to use to jury rig a damaged sailboat (rig, other equipment, etc.).

Also see on this page a earlier beautiful show on the Shannon River in Ireland, that may be especially enjoyable to those interested in Ireland.

Wow, Jim, that was neat. Teared up a minute or two there at the beginning thinking about my boydog Buffett, but then Barque shoved on into me demanding some attention, so - that was that...  :)

Will check out the Shannon vid tonight probably. Thanks! :)

I know what you mean. It was finally in the 60s for the first time this year. The snow has mostly melted except for some patches in the shade of the woods. I took a hike along the Saco River, where I used to take my springer for walks, and thought about the old seadog...the spots where he'd like to jump in the water to swim... Water is high and there was a lot of current from the melting snow.

Good to hear that you enjoyed the program.  :)

Also discovered that the cool new Cosmos series with Neil deGrasse Tyson is on hulu...

Thought it would be on PBS, but is only on Fox. Don't have cable, only a DTV antenna, no Fox. So yay...it's online.  :D
