Just got an email from home that it is COLD and will be -41 with the windchill tonight.
I did what any sailor would....
Walked outside, took this and emailed it with my sympathy

Gonna have to grog you Frank for going to all the trouble of going down there every year just to make the rest of us feel good hate you!  :P Happy Holidays let's hope this next year has our bows finally cross.

It's a burden....  😄

Yes, let's hope our bows do cross this coming year Tim.
I look forward to It!

Nice slow sail up to Manjack yesterday.
A nice North Sea 27 anchored behind me.
Takes more clouds for better sunsets.

Back to a mooring in Black Sound as high winds are forecast for Tuesday on next week and the moorings get taken quickly.
An extremely salty looking boat grabbed one behind me. It looked like a Pacific Seacraft but I wasn't sure. Went over to chat and sure enough, it's a 27ft Oreon. Beautiful, solid boat! Hefty at 10,000lbs for a 27. Only 4ft draft, nice bulwarks and a beautiful wine glass stern too. The chalk is green is calling out for a 1500 grit wet sand and an aggressive rubbing compound after....
I really like the boat!

Geepers....
Nobody's posting so here goes...

Junkanoo was New Years on Green Turtle
Awesome costumes and a great time! The sleepy little island comes alive for this one day per year.
After the parade they had incredible fireworks!
I was totally impressed by both the quality of the fireworks and the amount of them for such a small community.
They truly get into Junkanoo

After awesome weather which thankfully lasted through Junkanoo....Jan. 2nd high wind, rain and cold set in! They were blessed it was after with all the prep that went into that one day.
Too wet and windy to get off the boat yesterday, it died down enough to venture out today.
Sunsets never get old to me...

Thanks for putting this up Frank. Takes the chill out of this brutally cold NH day.
Yea, that 27 Oreon is a nice looking boat.
I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

Frank

Yep....been brutal up home too. Warmer today but with that comes snow.

Nice easy sail to Manjack to visit. Winds were light and just 2.5 to 3.5 knots boat speed but I was in no hurry.
Annie and Neville are back after a few years absence. Nev just turned 81. They sold the Warrem 46 cat they built and put 70,000 miles on. Their retirement boat is a Cape Dory 30 motorsailor.  Hard to fall off or out of it they say.
Jerome on "Jazz" sailed in again from France on his 31.
Nice to see some regulars return
PS...the sail back after 2 nights there was reefed down in 20-25+ and 5.5-6.5 knot boat speeds.

Gotta love sunsets from the Manjack anchorage

Nice broad reach up to Allen's Pensacola yesterday.
Barely a sail adjustment the entire time.
Had a pale of water from recent rains so did laundry underway

And...
Nice sunrise this morning!

Thx lads
I worry I post too much as it has been the same area for so many years now.
Just had 3 awesome days sailing!
Close to broad reaching every day!
Today was gusting 25.... I left Spanish Cay with about 80% foresail unfurled and had a great, under control sleigh ride for 16 miles! Getting old.... Was happy not pushing too hard. Years back Reefed main would be up too but I was content not being stressed .

Misfits
I took better panel mount pictures today.
I think you'll figure these out.
System has worked great...easy to tilt and secure with that big panel.
It's 2x2 alum angle...

Tried 5 times....windy out...
Pics to follow with better wifi connection
