Rented bikes today and rode from one end of Elbow Cay to the other.
The bicycles were actually nice riding and smooth for older style single speed-coaster brake bikes.
3 things stuck out...
How many hills there are that I never noticed before
How many bars there were along the way 😄
How sore I was upon return.
Figure I'll need a block n tackle to get lowered into the dingy tomorrow.
Really enjoyed the ride tho and want to do way more
It was a beautiful day

This cute lil catamaran keeps showing up as well in my travels.
Looks like an English boat. Nice cruiser!

Great ending to an awesome day as we were invited to another boat with 2 good guitar players jamming along with a pot luck and drinks.
It simply doesn't get any better!

Saving our mooring in Hopetown as the song writers festival is coming up next week and some musician cruisers and local talent are having a fundraiser on Thirsday for the "WILLIAM H ALBURY" restoration..... a beautiful old schooner built here in Man Of War Cay years ago....but...just had to get out of the harbour! Too nice a day so we dropped the mooring (with a reserved ball attached) and had an awesome beam reach up to Man Of War. It proved a much needed break and felt SOooooo nice to be drawing nicely on the blue-green water. Just finished a walk about town and back aboard for a sundowner before putting spegetti on. Life's good.

No one...
I mean NO ONE has more fun sailing than this guy!
Based out of Man Of War, I've seen him all over during the years.
This year he sailed over to Marsh Harbour for rib night (note no engine)
A few nights ago he left Hope Town at sunset for a night sail home.
Just now, as we sit having a sundowner...in he sails.
I can't help but grin every time I see him.
Great little boat. Super simple rig. Faster than you'd think and fun.
Yep...no one has more fun and less stress....

Was one of those "I trust my anchor" nights as unforecast winds came up and gusted over 30.  I'm anchored in the middle of a mooring field and the thought of catching a mooring line in the prop was on my mind laying there but thankfully after several checks we didn't budge!

Awoke to a wind shift and great view aft of a Westsail
(correct me if I'm wrong)

Just a magical day so far!!
Up early and sailed back to Hopetown for a musical fundraiser. Cruisers that play and sing were doing an afternoon event to raise money for the WILLIAM H ALBURY and I wanted to enjoy it.
Once inside the harbour and back on our mooring, I saw that pretty little sailboat slide in as well.
At the event, I finally met it's owner "David Wright". Turns out he is an extremely interesting man and the person responsible for rescuing the WILLIAM H from ruin in Montego Bay and bringing her (towing her) home here. Very very long and fascinating story!
In short, the boat is back at Man Of War where it was built and he has taken it upon himself to restore her.
He is also an extremely talented musician, plays varied music but loves bluegrass...picking away on his 1921 Gibson mandolin (previously owned by a famous blue grass player in the 30s and 40s)
Wonderfully eccentric....he wouldn't allow a TV in his home and says it worked cuz now his kids take care of him 😄
As well...when a Canuck from Kingston Ontario Canada donated a mast, boom, rigging and sails....he drove up to pack everything to ship down to see it all in his Model T.....with 481,000 miles on it!
Gotta love characters!

Winds are good so a group of us did a break away and sailed a bit S and anchored off Tilloo by the pond. Were headed to little harbour but the the E wind has an uncomfortable swell coming in for anchoring so we're staying here a bit.
Felt like kids as we dingy'd into and around the pond before going junk collecting (lots os sea glass and other treasures around here)
I think the best part of cruising is turning 60 some year olds into 16 yr olds

A few years ago this off shore racer hit a container...
A month or so later it washed up here and has been rapidly deteriorating since.

Heading out to pick sea glass before sailing back to Hopetown later.
I've never seen as much sea glass so easily found as this spot.

Pics are from the sail down here a few days back.
Gotta love the water colour!
These boards fly!

Back on a mooring in Hopetown for the song writers festival this week. Incredible talent!!
Had an awesome broad reach back today!
Started the Yanmar to enter the harbour and noticed the hours....
I've tried to make a point of wo4king with the wind this year and it's been great!
Launched end of November
Engine hours to date, Feb. 11th are 19
Nights at a dock...2... boat clean up and major laundry.
Times engine run when panels weren't  enough...twice for about 20minutes

Bob J (ex-misfits)

Only 19 hours, that's pretty cool.
I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

Frank

Couple of pics from yesterday...
Hopefully entice a few of you into crossing over here.
Big boats are not needed!
I've done it in 20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27ft and up.
Just gotta leave the dock!

Took a supply run to Marsh Harbour yesterday.
Had to motor the entire way....seemed boring after sailing so much this year.

Ran into this lil guy at the festival.
I'll bet he DOES run their ship!

that was his youngest son. I was building my trimaran, and he was visiting the place, anchored out. He kept showing me things and saying- "my dad does thus and so"

I finally asked "who is your dad?"

he responded "Jim Brown"

I began paying attention :) and learned a couple of things

Jim Browns youngest?   Would it have been Russell?  The Pacific proa whiz?!
