Title: Recomendation for Book Locker
Post by: Godot on November 09, 2006, 06:56:31 AM
I don't know how difficult this would be to implement, but I was just browsing some of the old Book Locker threads and did some google searches to look up the books to see if they where something I'd like to track down.

It occured to me that many sites are "Amazon Associates" and have their own psuedo book store that links to Amazon.  I've found it to be a great convienience when reading about a book to have a link right to Amazon should I decide to purchase (or at least read more about) it.  A bonus for the site owner is that you would get a nominal commission on sales.

I've run forums in the past and I know that while websites aren't necessarily very expensive, they aren't exactly free either.

That's actually fairly easy to do as I recall.  It mainly involves CapnK signing up as an Amazon Affiliate, and then posting a link to each book with his affiliate URL tag.  Then if anyone clicks on the link and then buys the book, CapnK gets a small fee for the referral.

OK, I have done this, joined sailFar into the Amazon Associate program. I don't know too much about it, just yet. :)

Can we get a link or sticky thread for the Sailfar Amazon Associate thing?

Be nice for Kurt to get a cut of the action

I did this for my birdwatching site some years back. I never made much money, but it was helpful to have the links directly to Amazon for readers. CapnK, is you need any help, just holler. I'd be willing to organize a list with the correct links.

I was thinking of adding my reading list to this forum as well. I consume books like some people consume pizza.  :D

I set up an account with them a few weeks back. Will try to slowly convert already-posted links here on the site, and have been doing that to recent content that I've posted. They don't make it real easy... ;)

Elizabeth - pizza? Good analogy, I am the same way - about both books *and* pizza. :D
