Ariel #215

I'm now the proud owner of Ariel #215....for the princely sum of $895....critters included  ;) Hope to get her home within the next few weeks, build a simple  poly roof over it to allow working without taking tarps off and on, then start ripping/tearing in my spare time. Lots of fun dreaming about changing things.I'm going to try and do major but easy renos. Pretty sure a deck re core will be included as well.

won't know for sure till she gets home but from the look of the cushions I'd say they got round ears and skinny tails  :o

OK...Craig collects outboards...I collect boats ;) Not sure if all his run or any are for sale, but ...just for the record, its not as bad as it 1st seems. I have 2 sold (deposits only..not yet picked up) 1 still for sale and 3 in various states of restoration or modification with 2 others ready to use. Then there's the dingy's,canoe and fishing boat

Landed home last night...long trip towing that much weight. She's a honey...decks like a trampoline and full of mold. Guess I should have used adrifts used boat inspection guide  ;)  (kidding) I knew I was buying a real fixer-upper and wanted one cheap enough to gut. Well...now the fun begins

I loved the fishing metaphor! I think she's a keeper, but I'd like to see the landing net!

Actually, from the outside she really does look in fine shape. When you say you're going to gut her, what layout are you going to be putting back in? (the past few days aboard my boat, which has a decent layout, is making me fantasize of gutting it and replacing it with something better.)

To save 'pecking'...I copied this from the Ariel site.."The 'dream' right now is an open interior.Judy really liked the flicka inside. So..enspired by Ebb and Kurt and flicka's, I hope to have it as open as possible with an aft head/shower to stbd with galley to port and apposing settees between there and the Vberth with a fold down table. I'm thinking water tankage forward where the head is now.That would be easy and keep weight aft of the original tank.The 'inboard engine' erea will probably have a second water tank.I'm thinking of creating 'pockets' port/stbd in the cockpit under the seats to each hold a 6 gallon tank.That 12 gallons should give over 30 hrs 4 stroke OB time. Sails will be a battonless main with 3 reef points,jib with one reef point,lightweight 150 and a storm jib. Seems the best compromise in my head anyway.I hope to keep the bilge open for cans etc. Great storage erea for heavy items.

BTW, ever thought of starting a TV-series?  'Pimp my boat'?   ;)  Might be helpful with the renovation costs
