Happy new year Norman
I’ve never eaten kelp or heard of it being eaten actually...
There are massive kelp beds... quite eerie as they wave up from the deep with the tides. Would be easy to harvest some.
Many clams to be had at low tide but I’m not a fan.
I guess one could almost live off the land here easier than most places..
While it’s currently more rain than most old folks remember, there is always enough rain that with catchment, fresh water wouldn’t be an issue either.

OI googled Kelp as food. I knew it was eatable, but this was interesting

Nutrients: Sea kelp is a natural source of vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D and E, as well as minerals including zinc, iodine, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper and calcium. In fact it contains the highest natural concentration of calcium of any food - 10 times more than milk.

Just had an incredible few weeks up north in the Broughtons. My third pass up there since launching but so pretty with the snow capped mountains!!
Came upon a pod of Orcas feeding and hung out with them over half an hour. Felt blessed...

Ahhhh! memories. Thanks

This Orca shots look just like in the same place I took on the way up to Quatsi Bay.

What's the air temp there, when it looks like this? I bet it isn't as warm as it looks. :)

Up there was
High 30s-low 40s day
High 20s-low 30s night

I’m back around Desolation Sound and noticibly warmer by 5-10 degrees

All worth it!

Tim, those Orca pics were between Bond and Thompson.... right befor Qwatsi. You’ve got the right area!
I’ve got 5 short videos and a ton more pictures from that day. Hung around watching for over half an hour.. loved it!

Looks beautiful up there.
As always great pictures!

I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

It strikes me that that's an entire 1/3 of an Earth orbit.  :o Time flies! ;D

Kurt... it’s not for everyone...
It’s cold
It’s “solo”
It’s windy and rough at times
But
It’s beautiful and lots of wild life so many forms..
I do love it up here!

Hope you’re doing ok in these crazy times..

FYI Frank, I will be moving to Sequim WA (or thereabouts) later this spring. Looking forward to seeing the subjects and landscapes in your photos in person!

Frank

It’s beautiful country!
Permanent move?

Yes, though in truth we haven't totally committed to putting down roots out here yet. The price of real estate now has got us second guessing ourselves a bit, but I think there's still a pretty good chance that this is where we'll end up.
