Frank, I love your posts and try to follow your voyages on Google Earth. Any chance you could post your coordinates when at anchor?

Last September when I posted this I couldn't find a Flicka anywhere so I bought an Orion. Beautiful boat. Now, I found 3 Flickas for sale.

The 1st one is in Guatemala. It has a diesel, but also has an outboard so not sure if the diesel is running. Also comes with a dual axle galvanized trailer. This could be a real adventure, or horrible experience flying down to inspect it and bringing it home. Asking $10,000.

The 2nd boat is in Maryland. It has a diesel and the private head. Asking $23,000.

The 3rd Flicka I came upon today at our town dock. It has an outboard and some weird standing rigging. The boom extends well past the stern and there are only 2 side shrouds with port and starboard running backstays. The local owner wasn't present, but I was told it was for sale and the interior is immaculate.
Asking $19,500.

I still would like to see the interior of a Flicka, however after seeing it up close, I'm not sure I'd want to be towing it through the mountains.  It's a large 20' boat and I'm 65 and getting older.  Maybe I should stay with my Compac 19.  Although, my wife suggests I look at the Maryland boat and if I like it, buy it and sail it for a year before making a decision to sell the Compac and Orion.  I don't know what she is thinking, but she would have never allowed that 10 years ago.

Nice, rather open anchorage at Man of War.
The island is quite narrow where we are and they put up a gazebo for the public to use.. You can look a few yards to the east, and the Atlantic ocean and a few yards to the west to The Sea of Abaco. A beautiful spot to do potluck meals.
Sunrise cover the gazebo
Sunset over the sea
Lots of fun on a 24 and 2-27s

Treasure Cay has a simply beautiful beach that's several miles long.
We had good holding in the blow and enjoyed our time there.
Off to Man if War Cay...

Sailed down to Treasure Cay harbour for a blow.
Why does the wind always come up after dark?
Makes for a fitful night in the gusts...
Anchor held, all ended well.
Beautiful beach here, even when overcast.
Off to a wood fired pizza place last night.
Good food and company

There is an oyster farm just north of town. Our sailing club's annual spring oyster roast is in 2 weeks and I volunteered to help prepare them. I've eaten them, but never cooked them before.

The ones in the picture were about 3", but there were larger ones farther out on the mud.

Hard to tell the size of those, but they are what would be called "singles", maybe even "single selects" if say 4" across or larger. Singles as opposed to "clusters", which will be many smaller oysters all stuck together.
The best oysters are the ones living closest to the ocean, where the salinity and the fresh waters give them a great flavor, like tasting the ocean itself.

If you want to give those a try to see if they are any good, get your grill going, put down some aluminum foil or a pizza tin/baking sheet, place the oysters on top of that and cover them in a wet towel. When the towel starts steaming, the oysters should be done.
Some folks like to cook them just to opening and those are known as 'wet', some cook them longer so they dry out a bit - it's personal. :)

Melt some butter for dipping, and/or a bottle of hot sauce, for additional flavoring.

It's been kinda busy in town and yesterday I broke free of the mooring to go cruising a bit with friends.
Sailed to Manjack yesterday.
Today sailed southward across the whale and into Treasure Cay harbour.
It's going to blow tomorrow night so we will settle in here for a few days on the hook.
Naturally it starts yo blow after dark so the typical "is the anchor holding" stress will be there for a while.

Good to know. The water dropped 18" and went to clean up debris along the shore. The oysters were everywhere.
