I came across this story in the hard-copy April edition of Latitude 38, and then I found it on 'Lectronic Latitude.

The first item in the link is startling enough for a number of reasons, not the least of which is what was the crew doing close enough to shore to ground and then be swept up on the beach.
But the real reason I posted the link is the story of the Triton sailor whose boat burned to the waterline and sunk. The cruising community chipped in to replace his lost Triton with another Triton! Pretty nice story.
Cool story...
I think it's kind of funny that the replacement boat seems to be in better shape than the one he lost, except for the missing rudder. It also goes to show that fire is one of the biggest dangers we face as small boat sailors.
As for the first story, sounds like there's a lot to it that we're not being told.
That's about the most uplifting story(the Triton) I've read in a long time.
