Title: Painting tip...
Post by: W Jones on March 29, 2008, 06:54:48 PM
Here is a little painting tip I have discovered works with some 2 part paints. If you mix more than you need and want to do another coat in a few hours just stick the paint in the freezer until ready for it. Lots of times it will still be useable. Sometimes it will get thick when its cold but thin back out quickly at room temperature. If it has hardened while in the frezer you didn't loose anything.

Good tip, Grog! :)

It also works for 4200/5200 - place an opened tube in a ziplock and fridge/freeze them, they last months.

What a great idea, Cap'n and W:

I usually end up throwing out at least one tube of 5200/4300 every season.

And for two-part paint, it sounds like a great way to save that stuff, too.

Grog to both of ye', lads!

If you're going to refrigerate 4200/5200, make sure to put it in an airtight bag that has all the air squeezed out... IIRC, it cures due to moisture in the air... and if you eliminate the air and moisture, it will last longer.
