Title: Barlow winches
Post by: Gus on June 21, 2007, 12:01:44 AM
Well, I just got done cleaning the old grease from the winches I've got about 2 weeks ago. Everything looks good, except, one roller bearing it's broken. I know barlow went outta bussines some time ago. Can I get the part? Any other part compatible?
Help?!?

Gus

There's a company out of Australia that bought  out Barlow and Barient and sells spare parts for their winches.  I'll see if I can find the info for it..

They have changed their website around, so it threw me off for a minute.

Great folks to deal with, excellent service and follow up. I have dealt with them about five times for my boat and reco-ing the winches of other people's boats (or in one case buying reconditioned sheet winches) and have found them to be excellent throughout.

Yeah- Thanks for the link. We have bronze Barlows on Tehani and no spare parts. I bookmarked that site, for sure.

Alex-

Did they change the name.  I seem to remember it was called Arco or something like that. :D

They have always been Hutton Arco ...but Arco is their name brand winch and Hutton is the name of the distribution company that amongst other things, handles the spare parts and old winch stocks. They did some reorganising and name shuffling a while ago.
