I was sailing out of Vallejo Tuesday afternoon when the boom snapped about a mile off the entrance to Berkeley .I brought her into harbor and yesterday stripped the main and the fittings off.Cause of failure looks to be a combination of galvanic corrosion and 31 years of mid-boom sheeting.Oh well, cruising is really nothing more than fixing your boat in strange places.
Does anyone have a line on a used boom from an Ericson 27?
Short of finding a new boom, can you sleeve it like they do mast repairs?
Ouch... no other damage or injuries I hope. Sleeving it might be a good option, if you can't find a replacement at a good price.
No injuries, but I had to throw out a good pair of shorts.
Just got a call from Minneys Yacht Surplus outside of LA they got a boom from a Cal 30 for $145 includes endcap and gooseneck.
I was so worried about it that I actually missed my nap today.
