I am stumped as to why a PO glued foam and fabric to the fiberglass. Once I get it stripped and sanded I am going to paint it. Lots of work.

Unfortunately, too many manufacturers do this as it is an easy, quick and cheap way to finish the interior.

It's one of the more attractive ways to insulate a boat for cold weather use.

I suppose, still, it's a mess IMO. It would have been nice if they had not have glued the poop out of it. :-\

My clipper marine had fabric with foam backing installed from the factory, looked like poop. I was in the process of scraping and pealing it off, not accomplishing much. Happened to go inside the hull on a toasty 80+ degree day. Grabbed a piece of the liner and it peeled right off, so I peeled the whole thing. Now it sits bare and neglected. I plan on running some firring strips down it, insulate it, and then put a wood slat liner over it, similar to what CJ did on Tehani. I say similar, because there is no way in God's green earth I can even come close to Laura and his skills.

Good adhesion is necessary to avoid condensation behind the insulation.

You may not like how it looks, but it sounds like the PO did a reasonable structural job even if the aesthetics leave something to be desired.

I have about 60% of it off and anded reasonably smooth. The crappy thing is the glue was not spread even, but th foam hide the thicker areas. Lots of scrapping. Of well it will be easy to clean and look great when I am done (I hope).
