Title: Wiley Ports

If you aren't familiar with them, read http://www.mizzenwind.com/?p=1170 Really like how he did these, and the storm covers, as a solution for being able to open Katies big main portlights. Photos from/property of mizzenwind.com

Yep-, those are Herreshoff designed ports. Should work quite well, but i'd for sure add a drop in panel with screen to block mosquitoes

Nice design, especially when a mosquito screen is so easy to make.  One of my "how to" boat project books has these in it.  Low tech and sturdy, just like they should be.  My only complaint is they intrude into the cabin.

WRT the intrusion - if you have 2 or more of these ports in a row, make them so you can mount a rail on that outermost point. It would be a great grab-spot for rough seas in lieu of an overhead rail, and could be also a drying rack for foulies after. :)

That Egret sharpie seems like a pretty cool boat. Apparently quite seaworthy and useful in a variety of conditions.

This port design could be easily adapted to have an insect screen instead of a hard clear lens.  A frame cut the same size as the lens with screen stapled to it could easily be wedged in like the clear lens.  This would surely beat sleeping while drenched in bug repellent!
