Title: FREEDOM 32
Post by: CalamityJack on January 09, 2016, 01:06:33 AM
Has anyone owned or sailed on one of these? Are there any typical problems? I suppose they don't point super well? My health is not the best so I was attracted to the simplicity of the rig and sail handling. Anybody know anything about them?

No 1st hand experience, but Freedom built a good boat and typically they were good sailors. The 32 has a neat-easy to sail rig and huge, well laid out interior. Only thing on the down side in my mind is 6ft draft....

Thanks for the response Frank, I saw it earlier but though someone else might chime in too. The draft was my concern also, and I found that the masts become cracked as well. I haven't found one on the west coast either, although an east coast one would be a once in a lifetime sail home (again the draft).

I'm looking at a tartan 30 this week, but also considering a Yankee 30, and a Catalina 30. This will be sailed up and down the west coast so the tartan easily beats out the Catalina for weatherliness (not a word?), don't you think?
