Title: Panacea/Seaward 22
Post by: K3v1n on July 24, 2007, 09:02:04 PM
Well after looking and looking I went and bought a Seaward. It is a model from the fine vintage year of 1985. Needs some TLC but has great potential for a family cruiser and best of all I had their full support. Hope to bring her home this Saturday and begin the clean up and maybe, just maybe get her in before the season ends.

Guess I can't shake this threefootitis.  :-\............. :)

I promised my wife that this is it for awhile. I have to get through at least two full seasons before selling, but that hasn't worked in the past.  ;)

Here she is tucked into the driveway as all the other fine ladies that preceded her.
Not much room left to go any larger, had to cut down a few trees to fit her in and be able to walk around.  :o

Working on cleaning her up first, lots of gear inside to go through and clean or throw out. Once she is emptied a nice scrubbing is in order, quite a few leaks have lead to a bit of mold. I'll keep ya's posted as to my progress and what projects I have instore.

Well the work moves forward. Removing alot of old wiring that the PO had installed. Looking to upgrade the fuse panel and rewire as needed.

Title: Seaward 22...named
Post by: K3v1n on October 21, 2007, 05:41:39 PM
Well after much debate we decided against Gypsy Soul 2 for a name, well I should say my better half decided. I was pushing for a new name feeling the boat should have her own identity. Just needed to give her time to figure that out herself. So welcome 'Panacea', hopefully my cure for threefootitis for awhile.   ;D

Oh, and a cure for that sickness that occurs between the hours of 9 to 5.  ;)

Thanks mate!
Worked on the rudder today which I learned has a bit of water in her.  :-\
So I drilled some holes to get most of it out. I'll give it the winter to dry out before patching and painting.

Good one, Kevin. Hope it cures that x-footitis before you hit the dreaded 30' mark, and have to undergo a boatectomy to be healed again. :D

Hoy mates!

Yes the work continues and I am glad to report the bottom is at long last cleaned of all old paint. Bondo work has begun followed by a bit of fiberglass work then onto barrier coat and then antifouling.

Not an expert boat repair guy here, but I'm using the stuff called Formula 27 by Evercoat. On the last boat I used Marine-Tex but that proved to be expensive.

ok, I was just afraid you meant Bondo from the auto parts store. THAT Bondo is porous and will absorb water and just flake off.

Well she is just about ready to launch. Still a ton of things that can be done but I want to sail. Looking at May 23rd for a dippin' date. Can't wait to see how she sails and if she's a keeper, at least for more than one season. Still have a longing eye for a Beneteau 235 for sale locally, thank goodness she is still priced too high for my budget.

Sail report to follow.

Kevin

Yes I do!

Just waiting for the lettering I ordered to come and still tracking down some leaks. Matter a fact, it is raining now so I'm off to climb in and find them elusive dribbles.

Hope to do a small re-naming ceremony later this week before the launch.

Boat sails great! love it, love it, love it!
Hopefully I can fight off the desire for a 28 footer for a few years.

Great video, Kevin. The genny looks to be in awesome shape. Overall, the video gave me a flashback to when I had my CP23D. :)
