Title: Seabird Yawl
Post by: rorik on July 19, 2012, 06:55:21 PM
I remember this boat from when I was a kid about 40 years ago........ ran across her in the south end of Puget Sound earlier this month.
Just thought some of you might enjoy her.....

Designed  in 1909 by Thomas Flemming Day, founder of Rudder magazine. In collaboration with Charles Moyer.

Day sailed his own Sea Bird trans Atlantic.

Many have been built over the years. A very famous design. Thanks for the pic

WoodenBoat had a article on this design a few issues back, IIRC.  Lovely boat.

I watched one rot at the docks in Charelston Or.   Got to tour one in Maine.  If I had not been 3,000 miles from home would have bought it.  It was deffinatly a kiss boat.
