Title: Seaward 22
Post by: K3v1n on February 02, 2007, 06:16:42 AM
I was wondering if any members out there have any thoughts on the S22?
I was looking a 1985 model over the other day...very tempting.  :o

I've no experience with the s22; but a quick search online has given me a few thoughts (which you have probably already thought of, naturally).

1) It is a pretty boat.
2) The owners manual found at http://home.att.net/~seaward25/seaward_s22_manual.htm frequently mentions the need to keep the boat trimmed by moving crew around.
3) The galley barely qualifies for the word.
4) Shoal draft and easy trailerability gives the flexibility of a trailersailer.

Given the above, this would appear to be a good boat for daysailing, weekending, gunkholing and racing in.  It doesn't appear to be ideal for real multi-day cruising; although that can be overcome if you have the right attitude  (after all, some people cruise in open dinghies).  It is probably not a great choice for offshore voyaging.

As always, it all depends on what you are looking for.

Yeah I'm still in the daysailing looking to do more weekending mode.
I'm seeking out something a little bigger then my Com-Pac 19.
