And now here she was, not 2 miles from my house in Mattapoisett! Peterson, the owner of The Wooden Tangent, gave me a tour of Serafynn, pointing out some of her unusual features, including the cunning, custom-designed self-steering mechanism and the external chain plates. He also marveled at how solidly built she is, noting the closely spaced 2? by 2? mahogany frames. No wonder she was able to withstand some rough ocean crossings, including a knockdown in the North Sea.

I know the Wooden Tangent and Dave Peterson - he takes care of my mother's Herreshoff 12 1/2. It's 'glass not wood, but has plenty of brightwork, which Dave does a nice job with. I'll have to stop in to see if he'll let me have a look around Seraffyn.
what a cozy interior...
Yabut!!- remember Lin is 4'10" and Larry is about 5'2". Might be cozier than you think;D
Great boat what ever size- lots of miles, lots of history.
What a great article and photos. I got a much better sense of the boat that so many of us have read about. It is surprising how narrow the cabin trunk is, and how beautiful the brightwork and joinery of the interior is.
