The Swedish smallboat legend Sven Yrvind (formerly Sven Lundin) is setting of again on another Atlantic crossing in yet a new boat.
Well he sailed from Ireland to the West indies in his newest boat but wasn't at all satisfied with its performance and spent the voyage drawing his next boat and planning where to go with it.
Evidently he is planning to go "Around in ten" but with his own rules.
QuoteIf by an unlikely chance I meet a boat that offers me an apple, or a few dollars, or a girl crew made of the right stuff, I will not hesitate to accept such a generous offer. Also if by chance I will pass a remote island in fine weather I may go ashore to stretch my legs, if I so fancy.
You can't help liking the guy!

Been reading about him since he built his first boat in his mother's basement years ago- his first Bris.
Quite a guy. He called himself Sven Lundin back then.
He was born Lundin but later changed to Yrvind.
Yr = "Dizzy" or "Giddy" but Yrvind is probably best translated as "Whirlwind".
He has many brilliant ideas and one I especially have thought about copying is his sandwich composite which he makes his hulls out of. Lightweight, unsinkable and virtually indestructible.

Sven's "around in ten" is now going to be the focus of a documentary filmmaker.
