Title: BIG book list
Post by: captedteach on December 29, 2005, 03:38:09 PM
A few years ago a friend of mine started www.thebeachcats.com which is now the worlds largest beachcat site.  When Damon started the site we went thru our personal boat libraries and started a book list complete with reviews - some were written by publishers or critics, some were written by us. The list is HUGE and I have no idea how many titles are there.

BTW if you search the photo gallery there you will see Damons Hobie18 that I painted for him - you cant miss it as it has The Beachcats.com in HUGE letters

Has anyone checked out that list? Or the site?

I'll list a few here that I have read in the last few months

Tales From Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett
Master and Commander series - Partrick Obrien
Blue Latitudes - Tony Horwitz
A Salty Piece of Land - Jimmy Buffett
Ship of Gold in a Deep Blue Sea - Gary Kinder
Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon - William Lewis Herndon (he was the captain of the SS Central America - the Ship of Gold)
Sea Hunters I & II - Clive Cussler

I have a huge library here at the house - one thing that my mother taught me early was that books provide a wealth that can not be taken away.  The next house I have will have a dedicated room for the collection of books and other little treasures. As it is now I have a book case or two in every room of the house

I hadn't looked in our Book Locker in a few days, I'll be going to look at that list later tonight for sure. :D

I just picked up two more books both by Bob Morris

Bahamarama and Jamaica Me Dead - these are murder mysteries set in the Island.  Bob has snuck into a sailing site or two and seems like a really nice guy
