Title: Charts
Post by: matt195583 on September 27, 2010, 08:17:56 AM
I have been looking at getting charts for over 1000 kn of the aussie coast . They retail at $35 each here  >:( I found bellinhams who do copys for a lot less one thing I am interested in is whether the 2/3 size charts are still adequate for navigation . or should I go with the full size charts ? Or if anyone here has had anything to do with them .?

I've used Bellingham charts quite extensively for the Mediterranean Matt. I use the two thirds size and once I got used to not having the pretty colours of British Admiralty or Imray charts.. :D..found them easy to use.
The paper is not happy if it gets wet, careful handling and using soft pencils will make the charts last longer.
I use my Bellingham charts under a sheet of Perspex and lay off courses with a chinagraph pencil and they are as good as new after seven years. Good value and I would certainly buy more if required.  saxon
