Title: Sailing Grace
Post by: Zen on April 21, 2009, 04:56:52 AM
I was at the Pacific sail Show 09, and I happened to pause at this table where a guy was selling this book. He started in telling me about the story, it was about him, his 8 open heart surgeries in 8 months and being sent home to die. Instead basiclly he sailed to Ireland instead. I listened I was intriged but I did not purchase. However the book stayed on my mind. When I returned the next day to visit the show to see a friend , who turned out not to be there. I decided I would spring for the book. When the author asked who to sign the book to I said Captain Zen. He replied, in my 20 years of sailing I have never heard that. It is part of that "zen: philosophy that kept me going through the pain of the years. Good stuff.

With that I decided to take a picture with "my new friend" as he had signed in the book.

A great story of spirit, love, sailing and zen, worthwhile to add to anyone's collection:

Very cool, Zen - thanks and a Grog fer ya! :) I look forward to reading that one.

Looks like he is going to be in the Great Lakes region for the next several weeks (http://web.me.com/orangechair/Sailing_Grace/Calendar.html). Maybe some folks up there will get the chance to see him...
