(edit) NOTE: The links in this post no longer render incorrectly; CapnK fixed the problem.
The tag to insert a hyperlink into post text, such as
[url=www.sailfar.net]Sail Far[/url]
Sail Far (http://www.sailfar.net)
is not working properly. It is inserting an extra http// (notice the : is NOT there) for some links and http:// (with the : ) for other links.
Even entering the link directly without the url tags, such as
http://www.sailfar.net
which was typed in the message body as
http://www.sailfar.net
or
www.sailfar.net
which was typed using
www.sailfar.net
is doing similar behavior. Notice in this last example that although the link text looks right in the message body, the url it actually points to has the extra http// (no colon).
As a result, links in message bodies are BROKEN.
This has been observed for at least two posts:
http://sailfar.net/forum/index.php?topic=2715.msg28702#msg28702
and
http://sailfar.net/forum/index.php?topic=1268.msg28693#msg28693
First order of business is for others to verify both observed behavior on reading a message and behavior on creating a message using other browsers.
I see this on Firefox 3.0.10 and at least one other user has seen it (unknown browser).
I believe the [img] tags are doing the same thing.
Forum software update came out yesterday so I applied it.
Correlation = causation? Dunno, but I'd guess so... Working today, but I'll look into it tonight...
Testing:
http://sailfar.net
sailFar (http://sailfar.net)
Looks fixed, based on the above post...
It was an issue with some incorrect chars buried in a php file that was part of yesterdays update.
...and supposedly this fix will actively fix any prior incorrect URL's.
Lemme know if you see any that aren't, or other such oddness.
Happy sailFaring. ;D
Oops - checking with the dubs...
http://www.sailfar.net
sailFar (http://www.sailfar.net)
think the image tags still aren't working correctly Kurt.

Hmm. Dangit. Le' bummer. ;D OK, I'll look into this tomorrow - kinda late here.

Great job; thanks for the quick attention.
I figgered it wasomething like some extra stuff in the php page rendering code. Gotta love software updates rolled out without solid regression testing. ::)
(eyes not aimed at you, KR...at the coders... ;) )
Grog for the quick fix after a busy day working elsewise.
PS: After we know the img tag stuff is fixed, should we delete this thread; after all, at this point, now the original post won't make sense. JAT.
OK, I think that has it...
Lemme know if not!
[img] tag still does not seem to be working.

Hmmmm....
That's weird.
If you click 'modify' on my post, the formatting is correct (both ways I tried it).
Here it is with { replacing [

I like the 'plug n play' part. Chipsets and I think of Tiger Woods....
Would I be a Luddite if I suggested something a bit more kiss?
