Title: NEW FREE Navigation program
Post by: Delezynski on September 24, 2009, 10:47:24 AM
Hi all,

In case you have not seen it yet, if you need a nav program, take a look at OpenCPN. It can be downloaded from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencpn/
More info about it at: http://bigdumboat.com/cpnfaq.html

I used SeaClear for a few years and am switching over to OpenCPN. It's easier to use, can use more types of charts, runs on more types of computers, and is still being developed/worked on.

On the description page it says....
"OpenCPN is a simple, concise chart plotter/navigator.  It is designed to be used continuously at the helm station of an underway ship or boat, allowing the operator to easily track their position on accurate chart images. Additionally, OpenCPN can display tide and current predictions, as well as information on other suitably equipped vessels in the area."

FREE IS GOOD!  ;D

Free is ALWAYS good!

Grog to ye'.

I'll check it out, although right now I only use my computer for route planning on shore (ye olde Maptech Offshore Navigator).

Thanks,
