Title: old sail cloth for bimini top?

Has anyone tried this. I know it will not last forever but it would be pretty easy to sew up and cheap too.  W

FWIW, I had a sailcloth awning for my catboat. Since I only used it while at anchor, it lasted until I sold the boat. I don't know if the current owners use it or not. Of course, a bimini is up most of the time.

As long as you used a good thread that has heavy-duty UV resistance, it should work just fine, if not last quite as long as Sunbrella.

Interesting way to recycle! :)

Sounds worth a try.  I have plenty of old sails, good thread, and a Pfaff 130 sewing machine.  Back in '82 I used sail cloth with epoxy to repair my car body.  Those patches lasted many years.
