Title: SB/LC nav system
Post by: Delezynski on December 30, 2008, 08:13:35 PM
Small Boat /Low Cost nav system

As many of you know we have 2 Eee PCs  :) (US $399.00) that we bought for use aboard Guenevere. They are the old (computer speak) ones that have the 7 inch screen so they use very little power. The are running Windows XP so I can run our Airmail (FREE) com program with our HAM and SSB radio.

I downloaded a copy of SeaClear II ( http://www.sping.com/seaclear/ ) and got it up and running. A very good (FREE) program!

I just got a new USB connected GPS puck for US $24.00 + 7.00 shipping :o, (It's now down to US $19.99 at ( http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=GT-3731-44&cat=GPS ).  Loaded the drivers from the CD and it's up and running in both Airmail for auto updating our position AND SeaClearII!

I don't think you can do any nav system for less.  ;D
