No real updates here.  I installed the stern pulpit last week, pretty happy with it.

Ran down to Florida and back.... headed up to Annapolis this week.

Had a YC meet today, there was a race but I decided to sit it out   :P  Something about ending a 16 hour drive at 3:30 am this morning left me not in the mood to race (or to secure the stuff on the boat... which might have taken all morning).  ::)

  Not much here.   ;D

Busy, busy.

Got the Core Sound 20 ( customer boat) turned right side up last week after finishing glassing and keel installation. Currently installing deck framing and preparing to paint inside lockers , bow and stern compartments prior to fitting seat tops, etc. Starting to shift into "full tilt boogie" on that boat.

Got our first boat in for the dealership (2007 Mac 26M) We've had one couple by to look at the boat and have 4 others who have called. Maybe it'll sell quickly and we can go to Calif for the next one this month. ;D

Attended Texas Kayak Builders Bash last weekend over on San Luis Pass ( South west end of Galveston Island-130 miles away). Took our B and B Birders over. There were about 50 to 60 boats there, of various styles and types. Good day.

Duckworks Spring Messabout currently underway on our beach ( 5 BLOCKS away  ;D ) Not as large a turnout as had been hoped but the cloudy weather and strong winds may account for that. Not a lot of small boats sailing. The winds yesterday were hitting 30, so they stayed on the beach.

Otherwise, that's about it for us.

...yeah, I just came home after one busy weekend fixing the boat up. Engine serviced, heater repaired, installation of a new Lavac head and disposal of the old one, polishing and waxing the deck and cock-pit, oiling all the teak trim. I am a little exhausted, actually. Next weekend my woman partner and I will go to Stockholm by car to pick up a new set of sails.

Now, that's a bit thrilling. Amazingly enough, this is the first time in 30 years sailing, I am actually buying new sails. Always bought and sold boats before.   :P

Just got back from the marina.  Finished up installing the second solar ventilator, mounting the new genoa sheet bags and mounting the cockpit stereo speakers.  Got two-and-a-half of the hulls taped for the soda blasting/barrier coating and bottom painting that will be happening soon.

Also started the planning for the bridgedeck installation.  The bridgedeck is going to be complicated by the fact that water fill deck plate is currently located in the area that the bridgedeck will be going into... which means I have to move the deck plate.  UGH.

Heck, I just figured everyone is/was out sailing.  Except me... :(

I've been spending much more time plotting and planning projects than I have been doing anything constructive toward completing any projects.  Decided I need to concentrate on one or two at a time - otherwise, I'll never get any of them done!

A-30: Got one leak fixed.  :)

Other:

Very nearly got all the old glass sanded off my Bolger Gypsy today.  I had hoped to get it done so I could begin reglassing, but alas, I ran out of sanding disks about two disks short.  Got a few repairs to make before reglassing the hull.

Also, go both the front and back fields yards mowed today, which helps keep the better half from complaining about me putting time in on boat projects.

Today would have been a good day, if a bit chilly, for sailing... Good wind today.

Capn Smollett-

How many leaks have you found on the Smollett 30??

A couple.  This one was a big leak but easy to fix.  The others are deck hardware related.  Require attention but above the water line.

Busy busy with the new baby here in Boston too.

I was in Charlotte on business April 30th to May 4th, so that took some wind out of my sails!

We did sail her May 5 and 6th. We had some nice warm weather here in Boston, and a friend at BSC got some pics of the boat with the .5 oz spinnaker up. I'll get them to post soon. (They're on Norm's mac right now.)

May 8, evening, we took her for a spin around the harbor, around Spectacle Island and back. It was very windy, gusty, and we were cold, so we motored, since we hadn't exercised the engine for any length of time. No alarms from the Yanmar 1GM, so behaving itself at present. We have some detective work to do to figure out what is alarming and when.

We took her out again this Saturday, sailed out the the Graves and back. Upwind in about 15kn out, and downwind back. We used the 1.5 oz spinnaker. Averisera can sail over 7kns upwind, and we topped 8 many times on the downwind leg. What a great ride! I got to play on the bow for the jibes while Norm steered.

Yesterday, we did some things around the house, then went to West Marine and picked up some stuff (Amsteel for the spinnaker pole bridle, some hardware for the steps, cleaning stuff [we have a scum line already :o]) and headed down to the marina to fuss a bit. We put up the Sobstaad #3, to see what it is like. Turns out its in good shape, better than the #3 we have been using.

Filled out some PHRF forms and polled for crew amongst our friends for the Wednesday night harbor races. They start this Wednesday, May 16th. We'll see if we can be ready.

I have to say, that sailing Averisera is thrilling. It seems that she can't wait to get going, and then once she is, she hates to stop. We are having a ball seeing what her capabilities are.

Thanks Dan,
We are on the fleet list for tomorrow, after some scurrying around!

And we have 2 (maybe 3) additional crew. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night! The fleet captain told me there are about 10 boats in each fleet, Fleet A being PHRF 100 or lower, Fleet B >=101 (which is us). We'll see how many show up. I believe some are not yet commissioned, and the weather is looking wet and windy. The weather doesn't bother me (it can't if you sail with Norm), so we will be there.
