I'm hoping to visit my daughter on the west coast this summer.  She is in the San Francisco area.  I would love to schedule a day or half day sail on the bay while there.  Does anyone have any recommendations for charters, boat rentals etc or just a friend who wants crew?  Thanks.

I forgot to post a reply here , I've been busy re-setting life.

As far as a rental. I can hook up you up with one, if you are certified by the ASA on some level. The Oakland Lake Merrit Boating club has several for charter  reasonable I think.

I do not live near enough to the Bay to Sail my boat there. But I am able to rent from the OLMB club sine I am an instructor there. If you want to handle the cost I can take you and whoever else out as crew on the Bay for the day. If scheduling permits, just let me know the plans ahead of time. as in ASAP  :)

On another note of Sailing the SF BAY. As I said I do not get out on the water there much as it is an all day sail for me just to reach the S.F. Bay from the mouth of the Delta.

I was however out there this past weekend taking a ASA Bareboat charter class as the next step in my training. This time on Medium sized boats.  :o

those interested can read about on on my blog.

Thanks for the info, Zen.  I don't have a firm date yet but it will probably be in late August or early Sept.  I took basic keel boat sailing class several years ago but never followed through on getting the ASA certificate.  Sounds like that might be a problem for rental so charter might be the way to go.  I do have several years experience in small keel boats, most recently a Beneteau F235.
Are there sailing venues other than the bay that you would recommend in the area?
