Posting long links; use the tags to create a hyperlink with descriptive text???

I notice that everyone has links to stuff where the hyperlink surrounds a descriptive word, such as stuff. But when I try to use the BBC url tag, it won't let me do that. But I see other folk doing it!! So how do you do that?

Highlight the text and then click on the web link icon (the globe with the piece of paper attached) and then you'll see:

{url}highlighted text{/url} where the curly brackets are actually square brackets. 

Edit the first set of brackets by adding an "=weburl" after the "url" and before the "}"so it looks like:

{url=http://adriftatsea.com} remembering that the curly brackets will actually be square brackets

and then post.... that should do it.

Sometimes a link is so long that when posted it causes the screen to become wide, and makes everyone have to scroll to read it.

  You can prevent that without using that stupid 'tiny link' page.

Make that address a www.//share  TJim

  If you make the address like this;

{url=www.waythehecktoolongaddress.com}Put title of address you want to display here{/url}

Just replace the { with [

The original address of;

Will work like; This.
