The sailing competition that truly separates the men from the boys.   Wrong way across the North Atlantic.... E to W.   Solo, 30' max boat.   It began May 7, and the first finisher reached Newport May 17.  As of June 27, one remaining contestant is about 140 nm out, and 5 have retired due to boat damage and/or injuries.    To me the Jester Challenge stand head and shoulders above the Vendee Globe as a true test of men and their ability to rely on the resources they have aboard without outside support in ORDINARY boats.  Acts of courage when the world is NOT looking on applauding.  It's a test of courage, and of good judgment.  These boats are not the million dollar floating space capsules filled with high technology, but boats like you an I are likely to own.   That makes the Jester Challenge special.
