Norm/elizabeth-

Going forward on that deck shouldn't be a problem.  But you're going to be a bit exposed in the cockpit.  Are you planning on getting a dodger?

Also, watch the boom....looks low enough to clip your head.  Looks fast... probably is pretty fast.  Have you gotten polars for the boat?

Pretty boat... I take it you have storage under the settees?

Hey Dan,
Under the settees are the 2 9-gal tanks, one for water and one for fuel. There is some storage toward the galley (thus the drawers). Not much though.

What sails did you get with her? Did you get a spinnaker and pole??

We got 2 spinnakers and a pole. .5 and 1.5 ounce. We will probably get a .75 ounce, and I think at least one of the spinnakers needs to be replaced. Norm knows for sure.

We got 2 #3s, #2, and 2 #1s and 2 mainsails. The racing sails are a main and a #1. The rest of the sails are original or close to it. But they are not in bad shape. I do see sail purchases in our future though.

No we don't have roller furling, we have that racing style tuff-luff, which we are thinking about converting to hanks.

Ooooh... lots of sails... the original sails may even be in pretty good shape, if the boat was raced and they didn't use the originals much...  :D

N and E....I'm sure we all sence your excitement. You will have fun sailing that boat. Just as much fun will be learning what you want to do to improve her.I truly enjoy just sitting below and visualizing changes and improvements. Give yourselves lots of just 'dreaming time' below...its amazing the ideas you will come up with! Please keep us posted with pics, both sailing and your improvements once you settle on some ideas. It appears to be a true 'sailors' boat and I'm sure it's glad you 2 found her.

So - it's Launch Day. Peter (the seller) sent us a couple of pics of Averisera on the marine railway, heading out to the creek behind his house. I posted them in the gallery. Tomorrow we go down to Milford, CT, and step the mast, rig the standing rigging, run the halyards, check the electrical (running lights, anchor light, steaming lights), stow the new anchor, rode and chain, stow the boat, etc. We tune on Sunday, and we would plan to leave then or Monday morning, but for this nor'easter that has decided to head our way. So we may have to stay put until late Tuesday or Wednesday. We shall see what develops.

So, so so excited. Good grief.

Have a safe trip back with Averisera and Norm.  Sounds like it'll be alot of fun... I'll be down in Buzzards Bay, at my marina most of next week, so if you need to stop someplace, let me know.  Norm's got my cell phone number.

Hello there !!! Long time no post??  How's summer??...the new boat??...projects??? fun???

Norm

Hi All:
Norm here:  We had a super summer with the boat putting almost 1500 nm under the keel.
Milford, Ct to Boston
Boston to Boothbay, ME
Boston to Newport, RI (New England Solo-Twin Regatta, 4th out of 12
Boston to Muscungous Bay (a day sail beyond Boothbay)
Boston to Martha's Vineyard, MA
all round trips
plus... racing in Boston Harbor with E doing tactics and our friend, Vassily driving... first in series one and three. (three of six-race series held on wednesday nights).  Ended the season with N at the helm, Vassily away on a delivery, E in the pit calling tactics and sail trim... i. e. "skipper"...  and finshed third out of 19.  Go Elizabeth, go.

Much of the season had me teaching cruising aboard the C&C 38 Melissa and missing most of the racing.  In a few weeks, I am off to do my Captain Martin thing in the BVI for a sailing school in Nanny Cay.  Mostly 45 foot cruisers... beach bar to beach bar with sailing in between.

I think the highlight of the season was a Fall cruise to MV where we tied up at the famous Black Dog Wharf and were admired by sailors.  All surprised to see a couple our age cruising a small boat with no headroom.  (funny, when I tie up at that same dock five times a year on the big boat, no one stops by to admire.)

Amazing the places one can go and the fun one can have in a small boat!

we have a blog at dub dub dub dot averisera dot com  some amusing pictures and semi amusiong commentary.

Wow, Norm and Elizabeth, that's a pretty full summer.

I was wondering why we had not heard from you in a while (prior to E's post last week or so) and was hoping you guys were putting the new boat through her paces.

Good to hear things are working out well WRT the new boat.

Sounds like The Admiral knows what she's about at the helm!

Will check out the blog, thx for the update. :)
