On a Related topic, to the post regarding Antartic Exploration and Voyages, check out the Ernest Shackleton Expidition, outlining thier illfated voyage to the South Pole, and their subsequent voyage in a lifeboat across the Southern Ocean.

Available on DVD as well. A worthwhile addition to any library.

Another great book that I read as a child in school and then again this summer, is GREY SEAS UNDER, by Farely Mowat. It intriged me both times and is one of Mowats greatest stories. This book outlines the developement of Franklin Foundation, a  Marine Salvage Company conducting Ocean  Salvage operations with Deep Sea Tugs along the Wild East Coast of Canada, in the treacherous U-boat invested waters of the North Atlantic, during the second World War. A ture story and absolutley captivating. We don't build men like this anymore...

Both great stories, about great men of the sea !!!
