Having heard about the mysterious Ying-Yang, and wondering what going up it might actually mean, sailor-adventurer-writer Duncan Whitehead set sail on Sunday in order to be the first to actually go....'Up the Ying-Yang!'

Leaving the port of Savannah in a 14 foot homemade sailboat, Whitehead immediately encountered 10 foot swells as the tiny craft headed into the Atlantic gulfstream. Fearing a loss of bearings, radio contact was re-established with his support team via a CB radio link.

In the few short minutes it took to change the 10 year old batteries in the hand-held CB, Whitehead's craft was blown off course and started to take on water.

Without a raft, or life vest, or escape craft, Whitehead advised his support team back at Finnegan's Bar, that he was indeed now up poop's Creek, but his team couldn't find that creek mentioned anywhere on the sea charts spread all over the top of the bar. Most figured he made a verbal error.

Figuring Whitehead had really just 'taken it up the Ying-Yang, the support crew turned their attention to the wet tee shirt contest and celebrated Whitehead's historic discovery.

I just found that the mr white head is a tough dude.  he is so tough that after finding out one of the guys he was acing as on the vhf bragging about how he was a better sailor becouse his boat was 3" shorter, Whitehead decided right then and there to snatch a worn out hack saw from the rusty old tool box, a removed the last 4 inches of the cockpit back. it had mixed results.  ;D
