Unfortunately, Freedom Boat Works has had some previous, very negative press on a lot of the sailing forums from what I remember about two years ago.  It was mainly due, IIRC, to an overzealous employee posting about their boats and spamming the forums with stuff... and this was before they even had boats in production.  The quality of the boats is yet to be determined, and I don't know of anyone who has seen one in person, outside of a boat show.

Well then, go and buy a 210, then give everybody a report. Personally, I wouldn't buy an 'unknown' boat. Just my own opinion.

Ya like I said I just like your ideas. It's kinda hard to figure out what you want to do sometimes you read the good and the bad and try to sues out what is really going on. I just keep thinking of the daewoo cars(in the U.S.) when I think of this boat maker not sure if they will be a flash in the pan/ fly by night operation or not. Some things I love on the boat, but will they stand bye there work what happens if... The standred worries of a buyer of anything new. I know Catalina and Hunter and and and has been around has prooven themselves over and over but the prices sometimes kills me and the weights of "trailer" sailors not very tailer friendly for some makers. I just want something I can sleep in make some food up and just sail and tow. Like I said before more then likely going to hit the used market and go from there. That video wow the "Ahs" and "Umms" this guy can pull out in 5 mins pretty impressive. Not saying you need to be the most eloquent person in the world to make a video but maybe have something preplanned or written down would help a lot. Thank you guys for the time and info now back to saving up and planing.

You know there is a post on here that tells a woeful tail of a very well known line of boats that has threatend law suits against some sites for threads indicating they don't honer their own warranty.

After you have been around a while you will also read some articles about very well know boats that are comming out of factories with some serious faults.  Unfortunately they spend a lot of money on advertising so writers make up all kinds of excuses.

Why not contact freedom and ask if there is any way you could take a demo sail.
find out what they use for backing plates for deck hardware.  How are the chain plates made and fasend through hull.  Do they warrent work and what is cover and for how long.  One of the most important details what type of epoxy do they use and what type of gel-coat. do they provide bottom barrier coat.  How long do they let successive layers of glass cure and do they use chop or what type of cloth and weights.

Some builders take short cuts and don't allow sufficient cure time between layers. other use a lot of chop for quick build up.  Look out for ply wood embedded as back up for winches and mast and about any thing else fixed to deck.

My favorite line of answers about faults in used boats is that we just didn't know then but now we do things diff.  Oh yes a boat made in late 70's and you didn't know that unprotected pine with one layer of fiberglass cloth will work.  Ya until the warranty is run out.  The other thing is trying to get them to talk to you, well why don't you buy one of our new $600,000 boats, it's made right.

Now I am sure that freedom will not be around if every one says nay.  You need to talk to the builder and who knows, you may be the proud owner of a new boat that twenty years down the road will being just fine.

Good luck
