Unfortunately looks as if fema big shots in New Orleans are more interested in making their jobs last as long as possible so they are sitting on the money.

Last time we were in N.O. area Had a terrible PO-Boy in the Quarter.  Slidell and Mandeville appear to have faired better.  Do any of you reamember the Rats Nest.  All that gone.

I know its not the same but still will my boat down there and do a nice cruise on the lake.

And this surprises you why exactly??? Some of the FEMA higher ups in the Louisiana offices appear to be pretty much crooks...

everyone here in Louisiana is a crook heck the Mayor of New Orleans is a freaking crook. I don't know if it's more so here or every where but seems like we got alot of crooked people here. Makes me wonder sometimes like are they suppose to put 3 layers of asphault down for roads instead they put two and pocket the rest.

I love the waters here for fishing but can't stand that we are surround by a bunch of idiots who vote for these crooked people into office. Sorry for the politics talk, it just ticks me off.

I see nothing tree hugish about that, maybe a little dolphinish but no trees.  In reply to Chris2998 post of yesterday

What N.O. has gone through is nothing like anything any other area in America has experienced.

I lived often in Mandeville and still have dreams of sailing in the lake and taking boats up the bayous into the swamps.  Live in Ar. now and sail on lakes here but dream of towing down to Madisonville and sailing around lake.  Know it wont be the same as 40 years ago but still good.

Yes Louisiana has always had crooks in politics,  Diff. is they used to take care of the people a little better.

A couple of pictures from Laura and my last cruise through the area.

And let's not forget the hurricane MISSED New Orleans- It HIT Bay St Louis and Waveland and points east.

This picture was taken just past the Florida Avenue Bridge, exiting the Industrial canal coming east through NOLA. I could not get a total pic because of the barges in the way- but these are refrigerators lined up waiting to be scrapped, from the ninth ward I think. Remember - each of these represents a family home.

ok- I have to switch computers- the pics are on  the laptop

All I know is crime is insane seems like every month or so the drive to work I see a torched car on the side of the road. I don't think the crime will ever get better.

Having been raised there, I know it is nearly impossible to talk about Louisiana without the politics,

However we need to do so.  We really do not want any political discussion here on SailFar.

The reason is that politics are not controversial enough for us... nothing like anchoring, roller furling, or
outboard horsepower discussions..  ;)
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.
