I almost moved to Bloomington, IN a few years ago.  I did a little research on Lake Monroe and it sure sounded like a decent lake to spend some time on.  No real experience, though.

You might check out the Lake Monroe Sailing Association.

You might want to post this question over at TSBB.  There are a few Indiana and nearby sailors there.  They might be able to provide the local knowledge you seek.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

I have spent a few weeks sailing and camping Lake Monroe. Its a nice lake but only 10000 acres. Weekends are very busy in nice weather. There is an organized sailing club also. I mostly visit Monroe and Patoka in the off seasons because no one else has docks in on the Ohio river that time of the year.
It is a fun lake to sail, but you can see the whole thing in a day. If your like me and just love being out there sailing it doesn't matter much though. You can beach your boat and walk up to the showers or the camp store then back to your boat to anchor out for the night.
I would love to join in on a sail. I have always admired Compac boats and would love to see one in person. I have a 19 foot catketch call a Belhaven, designed by B&B yacht designs.
