anybody know anything about Aleutkas? I hate to think I'm the expert, Ive read everything on the net and everything written by Dr. Letcher. How about personal experience? I've only seen proof of four or five being built. Are the rest unread/ unfinished Plans?  Maybe I should start a non-profit Aleutka Rescue foundation....

I'm sure by now you've found this site - http://www.wefurnish.com/aleutka/research.htm

This guy has done about as much research on the Aleutka's as anyone can possibly do.

His results... well, there is just not much info out there on them.

to quote that site:
"My initial internet research into the Aleutka produced virtually no results.  Either an amazingly small number of boats were actually produced, or they have all disappeared."

It appears to be a wonderful boat. I wouldn't worry about it too much, maybe contact the guy from that website if you need more/specific info.

I would chalk it up to- you got a very rare, excellent cruising boat. She will definitely turn heads in marina's all over the world :)

I know a guy in south Texas who has an Aleutka. He hasn't had her in the water in a long time though. Can't recall his website, but I'll be seeing him in June at the Tex 200 and I'll ask him about her.

Hi again yeah I already contacted him and he sent me a copy of the original plans. I guess for me the hardest part is fabricating missing pieces of the boat like deadeyes and rigging , and where does it go because it came without a lot of essentials. I am adapting a mast off a Hinterhoeller, but am trying to see where the original rigging went, as someone changed some items apparently with no reason. Also no clue as to sails for my beastie. I guess once I get the mast up I will figure the rigging ???
