Captain Smollett

Congrats, Charlie on making it back home.  Quite a trip...lots of 'adventure' these last couple of months.

Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated along the way.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

Capt. Tony

Congratulations, Charlie and Laura too.  Thanks for keeping the dream alive in the rest of us.

congrats Charlie glad you made it home. I have a question concerning the stretch of the icw in the gulf, were you able to sail much of it and if not what was the reason?

Any sail boat regardless of size is a potential world cruiser, but a power boat is nothing more than a big expense at the next fuel dock

CharlieJ

Which part in the gulf? Fl,Geo, Ala, Miss? Or Louisiana, Texas?

Didn't sail any where near as much as I would have liked- had many many days of head winds-northerly coming up the west coast of Fl,, and westerly once I rounded into the panhandle. Of course had I been in cruising mode, rather than delivery mode, I could have sailed more.

Did have a couple of good sailing days though. Many more heading the other way- then we sailed a LOT.

I ment to add that the area I was wondering about was from Texas to Mobile both ways

Re starting the thread- From Tehani , Out cruising

All the boat stuff is aboard. Tomorrow, clothes and supplies.

With any luck from the weather, I intend to drop the lines on Thursday (or Saturday) and head for Florida, for a few months.

Had planned to leave last Saturday, but have you  seen the weather on the gulf coast the last week???? :o

Trains blown off tracks, regatta devastated? Glad I delayed

will be continuing to post here as I go.

It's good to see this thread active again, Charlie. And to see you choosing your own schedule. Will be interested to read the posts of your cruise.

Good luck as you prepare to cast off...

Good news!  Glad to see the thread back.

If you get to the Atlantic side of FL in May, we might cross wakes. We are headed to Panama by way of South Florida, maybe the Bahamas and perhaps Jamaica.

Have fun!

Hey Charlie, it's good to hear that you will be passing through the Pensacola area again. I will be following your posts here and would be happy to provide shoreside support anywhere in the Florida panhandle area. Looking forward to your visit.

Now that weather has gotten decent, plan to leave Sat. I don't sail the beginning of a trip on Friday.

Happy to hear you're heading out again, CJ.  ;D What's your intended route?   Are you going inside until the Mississippi?  Okeechobee or Keys?

CharlieJ

Probably just to west Florida this trip. Yes inside until Florida Ave Bridge in NOLA.

I've never been as sleepless or nauseous as I was on our beat from Texas toward Vermillion Bay, LA.  No fun going up and down 4-6 feet every 4-6 seconds.  Where's our puking emoticon?

Frank

Have fun CJ.  And remember........PICTURES!!!
